On 28th September 2019 a charity Sheep Dog Trial was held in aid of FOSTBC (Freedom of Spirit Trust for Border Collies).

The Freedom of Spirit Trust is dedicated to the welfare and future of the Border Collie. Their aim is to help promote a better understanding of the breed and its needs. They are not just a rescue kennels they also have a behavioural unit and give sanctuary to needy, old, infirm dogs or those in need of rehabilitation or a healing time. The Trust is a Charitable organisation and depends on donations to help to keep these dogs, to rehabilitate those in need and to rehome those which are capable of being rehomed.

The trial was held at Newfield Farm in Dalry, Castle Douglas and was organised by Davy McMillan. There was tremendous support for the trial from sponsors which included Gilbertson and Page, Trans K9 and Tarff Valley Ltd.

Thank you to everybody involved in the trial, from the organisers to the handlers and their dogs, the sponsors and to everyone that joined in for the day. Without this support and your generosity charities like FOSTBC would struggle to continue. A very impressive £825 was raised and has been passed to the very grateful charity.

Results of the trial were as follows:

1st - W Welsh with Doug on 96 points

2nd - T Blacklock with Ollie on 92 points

3rd - S McCulloch with Risp on 88 points

4th - G Gardiner with Nan on 85 points

5th - W Welsh with Cap on 83 points

6th - T Blacklock with Dell on 83 points (O.B.)
