Cloughmills Charity Sheep Dog Trial

Saturday 5th October 2019 saw a fantastic hill trial take place at Gruige Farm, Cloughmills, hosted by Kieran McFadden and by kind permission of Dessie Henry, with proceeds from the trial being donated to a very worthy cause, Marie Curie.
There was a great turn out of competitors and spectators supporting the trial.
The course proved tricky and the Blackface ewes gave the handlers and their dogs a good challenge. Most dogs achieved the big outrun, but the sheep were difficult to shed and pen.
The trial was judged by Eamon McAuley, and the results were as follows:
1st D McAuley with Jan on 102 points
2nd G Graham with Ash on 100 points
3rd D McNeill with Jimmy on 99 points
4th C Quinn with Star on 94 points
5th J Maginn with Lad on 92 points
6th B Lawrence with Glen on 90 points
Dessie Henry introduced a new cup to this trial for the winner, and hopes to make in an annual event on the trial calendar.
Thank you to everybody involved in organising and attending the trial and for giving up their spare time in doing so, and to all that supported the trial on the day. A very impressive £355 was raised during the trial for Marie Curie.
