Chairman’s Update - 09th May 2022 - World Trial Update
9 May 2022
During the past weeks we have been working with Curraghmore Estate to progress arrangements for the proposed World Trial 2023. Unfortunately, unforeseen difficulties outwith our control have arisen and ISDS Council reluctantly made the decision not to proceed with these particular arrangements.
I would like to thank the Marquis and Lady Waterford for their welcome and time spent with us. I very much hope that one of our major events can be held at some future time in this beautiful area.
The Curraghmore Estate is a fantastic and unique place and it is with reluctance this decision was made. Our thanks also go to those who were working on this event, for their efforts made to date.
The above decision taken we then had the problem of finding an alternative venue.
I am delighted to now report that we have been extremely fortunate to secure a venue at Gill Hall Estate, Dromore, Co Down, BT25 1JL Northern Ireland, with our hosts being the Porter family.
Many will remember the superb International held at Gill Hall in 2018. We are especially grateful to the Porters for taking on this event at what is relatively short notice for such a huge undertaking but recalling the 2018 event where they were enthusiastic and very involved hosts, I feel confident that working together we can produce a tremendous World Trial.
The local committee who worked on the 2018 International have stepped up to the plate under the very able Chairmanship of John McCullough; who, as then Irish President, delivered the 2018 Trial.
John’s very successful track record fills myself and Council with confidence that we could not have anyone more able for this role.
It has been decided that the dates for the World Trial at Gill Hall will be Wednesday 13th to Saturday 16th September 2023. This gives a two-day break between the International, which is taking place from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th September and the World Trial.
Regards,
Ian
