4 February 2014
Tuesday 4th February
Episode Five of Farpaisean Chon-Chaorach captures all the action and excitement from day two of the prestigious Scottish National event. This year the tournament is taking place at Tillybin Farm in Kintore. With 150 dogs running over the course of three days, only the top 15 dogs will earn the right to represent their country in the Internationals. Day Two sees competitors participate from afar with Chris Toner, originally from Ireland and a former Irish national representative flying the flag for Scotland, as well as the return of Colin Armstrong, a competitor who hasn’t featured in the Scottish team for more than 30 years.
In our extended features we meet the Wilkie family. They are the hosts of this year’s National and Ian and his brother Alan explain what’s involved in organising such a prestigious event. Mairi Alice Bartlett visits Knockando Wool Mill in the Spey Valley, a factory very much at the heart of the local community. Mairi Alice enjoys a behind the scenes exploration of the original textile machinery and learns about the aspirations for the mill’s future.
