Breeding of Dogs Act
The Society seeks to ensure that Members are informed of the law relating to licensed breeders and are encouraged to follow best practice.

Under the Society Rules owners are specifically advised, where possible, to follow the UK Breeding and Sale of Dogs (Welfare) Act of 1999, whether they are registered breeders or not, so that bitches are:

     1) not mated until they are at least one year old

     2) limited to one litter per year

     3) limited to six litters in a lifetime.

The Society enforces a rule that regulates breeding from a bitch such that no more than three litters will be registered in any three year period. You can see more detail here.
