She greatly enjoyed everything, and this included jokes with the Society Presidents, before watching some sheepdog runs from the grandstand. In the small photo-spread seen here the Society Chairman, Mr Jim Easton, MBE, was her host at each point.

On the Saturday, we were delighted to welcome Scotland's First Minister, The Rt. Hon. Mr Jack McConnell MSP.

He awarded the prizes to the four Young Handlers and joined with the ISDS in offering every encouragement to all young people developing sheepdog skills. The Young Handler winners were Carwyn Jones and Sam from Selatyn, Wales. Carwyn is aged 19 and studying at university, but his passion is for sheepdogs, a skill shared in a family of top dog handlers

At the prize giving we were joined by Sir John and Lady Mary Scott, Sir John awarding special Centenary Medals that he had commissioned. Mrs Julia Trotter MBE, kindly assisted with the presentation the the many trophies and was accompanied by her husband, Major Trotter, Lord Lieutenant of Berwickshire.

The Society is greatly indebted to Major Trotter, Lord Leuitenant, of Charterhall Estates who was the ISDS International President for 2006.  He and Mrs Trotter greatly contributed to the success of the event though the provision of the site and his support for The Princess Royal's visit.

It has all been a magnificent celebration of the ISDS's 100 years and a programme was shown on BBC Scottish television on 1st October.
