Scottish National Trials 2007

Tain, Ross-shire, 25 August

Posted 6:07 p.m. Final results.

The third day has proved fair in weather and good in running.  Some better points posted today, running the same mule sheep as the first day.  Many of the team are from day one, unusual in normal circumstances, but illustrating some of the challenges from these three days.

Andrew Carnegie, seen here with the champions shield, from Comrie, Perthshire is Scottish Champion with his six year old dog Lark.  They made 189 points on day one, a score only approached by two other day one runners. A deserved second place went to Ewan MacKinnon and Nan on 181 points.  Ewan did much to help organise the trial, while running two singles dogs and the brace!  Michael Shearer has two dogs in the Team. In for the the first time is Ian Wilkie from Inverurie with Tillymauld Moss.

The youngest handler at the trial was 20 year old Kevin Howlett from Lochearnhead; he will represent Scotland at the International as the Young Handler.

The Brace Champion is John Casey seen in the picture alongside with Bill and Jill with 210 points, a repeat success from last year.  Second were Iain McConnel with Craig and Jaff on 195 points.

The prizegiving was kindly supported by Mrs John Scott.  The Scott Family, from Fearn Farm did much to ensure that the trials took place and we are greatly indebted to them all.
