Burnchurch, Co. Kilkenny, 14 September

It is a super field and venue at Burnchurch, near the city of Kilkenny.  The ground rises up and away from the spectators offering an excellent view of all that happens.  We have fair weather and fair sheep that are testing the skill of dog and handler to achieve the task; and that task is to bring the sheep to their final home and demonstrate the best care and welfare.

The conditions have meant that many runs have gone to Time, and points scores are reasonable, rather than high.

Here we see Alun Jones of Selatyn, Wales with his Rob  at the pen.  Running 7th this morning they had the highest points posted at 331, until Gethin Jones' leading run in the afternoon with Eira made 357 points.

The Welsh handlers have four of the scores over 300 points.

The Brace Competition has completed its first of two days.  Ahead at the moment are John Griffith from Caernarfon, Wales with his Fan and Gwenno.
