No 23 - Artists and Photographers

Yesterday's page was devoted to writers and readers, and just as important are the photographers who provide images which tell so much more than words can convey. The quality of photographs has improved immeasurably over the years, before colour came black and white, before that sepia prints, and before the camera there are still a few images of sheep, dogs and shepherds - for instance the engravings of the early trials, and the paintings of artists like Richard Ansdell - this is "The Rescue"

and this is part of Peter Pourbus' Adoration of the Shepherds - who have brought their sheepdog with them.
