No 12 - The father of the breed

This is Old Hemp. No 9 in the Stud Book and credited with being the father of the working border collie breed.

And this is Old Maid, No 1 in the Stud Book

When the Stud Books were first issued 60 years ago, who would have thought that the number of dogs registered would have reached over 300,000, and almost all of them descended from the likes of Old Maid and Old Hemp and other working dogs of their generation?
