No 9 - Young Handlers

The growth in the number of young sheepdog handlers over the last few years is a real ISDS success story. Many more trials now have special Young Handlers' classes or prizes, and in several areas young handlers are being given special training and encoragement. As a result, we have seen a number of good young handlers who frequently challenge their older colleagues for top prizes.

The group photographed above is from the special annual Young Handlers' trial, which began under the auspices of Derek Bowmer and more recently has been hosted by Colin Pickford.

Young handlers also feature at each year's International trials, where the standard is always very high on what is always a challenging course.

Thanks to the trainers and congratulations to the handlers themselves.
